The Bliss that is Autumn

Yesterday was the first day of autumn, the beginning of my favorite time of year when holiday after holiday arrives, each with their own sweet memories. I get excited about almost every holiday and this year is no different. I walk down any Halloween aisle I can find.
There are other things I love about Autumn too. I love the smell of harvest and fallen leaves. I love apple cider, pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie (two recently aquired tastes). I also love the cooler sweater weather. Unfortunately now that we live in San Fran, that doesn't happen very often.
BUT the best part of the first day of Autumn is... our sweet Eli's was born! Yesterday was Eli's 1st Birthday! Yeah!!!! Now he is officially able to eat pretty much everything that is not a choking hazard. We are waiting for my parents and brother to come to have a real celebration, but we did give him a gift and had brownies with icecream. He is a neater eater than I thought he'd be and it was really quite fun. We love Eli so much and can't imagine life without him. I'll post a better blog with pics later after we are unpacked.

We are kind of sharing the same adventure right now! Except you live on the west coast, and I live on the east! Your post about feeling lonely struck home for me. I've definitely been feeling that and holding onto my own security blanket of Nathan, Isaac, and family near by. I hope you guys have fun in CA! We are enjoying Maine so far. It's lovely out here!
