So Much Going On

This is our final week in California and it's so weird to thing it's almost the end of so much we've been looking forward to this past year. Aaron has loved his associateship and we hope to find out sometime between this Friday and the end of this next school semester whether he has a job offer here. As much as we have enjoyed our time in DC, we both love it here in California. Where we are we don't worry about being harassed if we walk to nearby places and overall it is just a lot cleaner and nicer. So if we do get an offer, we will of course miss all our friends back east, BUT we will be overjoyed to know that where we are going will be such a better environment for Eli to grow up in.

As for Eli, we're reaching the end of the pregnancy too (47 days left until my due date!). We are so excited to meet our little man and have is life bless our family! And YEAH, once he comes, my diabetes SHOULD go away and I won't have to count carbs all day long and worry about my blood sugar levels. So it will be a doubly blessed day (of course Eli makes up 99.9% of that day's blessings).

Well, a lot has happened in this last week, no just the last two days, to make our move that much more interesting. Yesterday, after dropping Aaron off at work and headed home, I was getting off the freeway and slowing into traffic on the off ramp when someone rear ended me HARD! I was very shocked and worried about what this did to our angel. Anyway after getting out of the car, seeing our bumper hanging off and exchanging insurance information, I went home to start the long process of getting everything straitened out. I called my doctor to see if I needed to come in and check up on Eli then I reported claims to both insurance agencies. While I waited for the doctor to call me back Aaron got a ride home from work to make sure I was okay and that everything was going to be alright. I got in to see the doctor and while Eli was moving around and such, she still sent me over to the hospital for a non stress test and blood work to make sure there was no trauma suffered. It took FOREVER to get registered at the hospital and what would have been an hour and a half ordeal turned into 4 hours. Eli looked like he was doing fine but he was playing hide and seek with the monitor they had for his heart so they had to come in every so often to re find his heart beat. It turned out I was having contractions a lot closer together than was normal for my gestation. I wasn't feeling them though so... Anyway, poor Aaron missed basically a whole day of work and now we are just hoping that our car will get fixed by Monday so we can be on our way. If not, I guess we'll either have to join my family at the cabin or we'll have to miss the family reunion altogether. Ugh! I HATE this. However, the real blessing is that everyone is okay.

Oh man, Carrie! Reading this is like experiencing deja-vu. When I was 30 weeks pregnant with Garrett (and the night before both Blake graduated from Ball State AND we were headed on a road trip to Utah), we were horribly rear-ended while at a stop light. Because I was pregnant they sent me to the ER to get checked out....but the ER doctors were so slow, I got dehydrated while I was waiting and had to get sent up to Labor and Delivery to stop the major contractions the being dehydrated started up. It was a mess -- and made for a very long road trip the next day. Garrett was fine, but I had fairly major contractions periodically from then on out, which makes me think that was why Garrett came over 2 weeks early. Anyway, hope everything turns out okay for you and that your move back to DC is successful. We'll have to get together sometime this fall/winter -- I'll need to meet Eli and see you guys before you likely head back west again.

Life is crazy and things just seem to happen at once. I am glad you are ok. What an ordeal to go through, especially when you are pregnant. I sure hope you guys can make it to the cabin. It won't be the same without guys.love ya.
