So Long Sunny California!

This is my final blog from Cali (tear, sniff). Yesterday we finished packing and cleaned in a whirl wind of fury. Finally at about midnight we made our way to bed after a very long day. So today it's last minute drop offs to Salvation Army, the pharmacy, and the cable store then it's off to Utah for a long awaited for family reunion. So, what will I miss about this popular state?
- How safe I feel where we live. I can take a stroll without being harassed.
- It looks cleaner. Sure I know LA is known for it's perma-layer of smog over the city, but here it's fine and the neighborhoods are very well kept.
- The weather! Sure there were a couple of very uncomfortable heat waves, but I'll take dry heat over humidity any day. Usually, however, it cools off very nicely at night making it the most perfect weather ever. If we end up living here, I'll tell you how I really feel about the weather because I love having the seasons and if it doesn't live up to my love for autumn or spring then I might be hampered in my enthusiasm. I already know the winter's won't be snowy but both our families live in colder areas so if we want our fill we have places to go.
- The smell of the forests. I love central California because it has many aspects of my Utah home. So when you drive through the forest you can smell the pine and I love it. A new added favorite scent is it also smells like eucalyptus. I don't know if it's just my imagination or a weird mix of multiple smells that create that scent but it's fabulous.
- The farmer's markets. Okay so I only went once, BUT I love having the option and I didn't find out about them until it was to the point where Aaron and I were trying to use up our food rather than buying a whole bunch.

Things I want to make sure we do if we end up back here.
- Go to Muir Woods
- Tour Alcatraz (I'm fascinated by it)
- Go to the San Jose flee market
- Actually go to the beach rather than watching it from the road.

Goodbye Cali. For now, hopefully. Hello very long drive, DC, school, old friends and a new baby!

Aww Sad for leaving California. It sounds like the venture was fun though. Good luck driving back and be safe!

Good luck with your move back to DC. And I really want to get together with you guys before you leave the east coast again next summer. :)

Where will you guys live when you come back to DC? And I totally hear you about every single point you made on the unattractive things about this area.

Enjoy the drive back!
