In our travels from Cali to DC we have stopped in Utah for many different reasons. First and foremost was the upcoming family reunion and the caravan left on Wednesday for Island Park and my great uncle's oh so fabulous cabin. Secondly, our poor little car needed help or a good grave yard and so Utah will be our place to get that all taken care of. Thirdly our apartment doesn't open up for us until September first so we don't really want to inconvenience anyone in our ward out there with our mooching for too long.
Well, we left Cali on Monday and got to my parents that night. A long drive but Aaron loves to drive so it was all good. I was worried about how traveling would effect my diabetes BUT Aaron was so good and supportive as we stopped for every meal instead of going through the drive through and then spent an extra 15 minutes at each place so I could get a good walk in to help with the blood sugars. I have the best husband ever. (He might just be doing it because he knows how depressed and discouraged I get when for some odd reason my blood sugar soars even though the meal had the right amount of carbs.)
Okay, off of that side track, while preparing ourselves for the trip we got the BEST news. Aaron got an offer from the firm he worked for this summer. So all our hopes and dreams of living in Cali will be able to happen. Now we just have to hope and pray that the housing market comes down so we can some day afford a house out there. At the point it is now, our kids will be 20 before we can afford a house and they'll wonder why they had to live in an apartment their whole lives ;)
The family vacation was awesome! I love Island Park and Yellowstone. My uncle's cabin is just as good as home in many ways. I finally got to drive a quad by myself (my brothers tried and tried to teach me when I was younger but I never understood when I needed to change gears). Don't worry, I only went around in a few circles because I didn't want to do anything that might put me in labor sooner than absolutely safe. We didn't miss any of the Olympic events (i.e. swimming) and it was awesome to see Phelps reach his goals. I know a lot of people don't like Phelps and I really can't see why. Is it jealousy because he's done so well and people think he's being cocky about it? I say, Hey he had a goal, he worked for it, and he achieved it. You can't blame a guy for that. If people are just plain sick of hearing about him then fine, but if that's the case then I must not like Tiger Woods very much because EVERYONE talks about him all the time, NOT just during Olympic years.
Anyway, another fun thing that happened during the family reunion was the boys went fly fishing and Lynsie's boyfriend got my husband to get himself all wet (oh boys and peer pressure! Mike, you can't be a bad influence on my husband now.) We went into West Yellowstone and shopped and got ice cream. I wasn't going to buy anything because who wants to buy clothes when you're 8 months pregnant. However, I couldn't help myself when they had fleece jackets for $10. So I got one that will hopefully fit after Eli comes. We relaxed and I reread the third of the Twilight series so I could be all remembering for the final book. I got to hold and coo at my sweet little niece Haylee. Oh, she makes me so ready to have Eli BUT I can only pray that he'll be as sweet tempered as Haylee is. She is all smiles! I swung my other niece, Elise, on the swings and laughed as she made up songs. I also got a crash course in the final stages of potty training. Good practice for years down the road. I went on lots of walks and enjoyed the outdoors. We played games and ate snacks. My dad made his oh so wonderful double chocolate cherry cobbler and we got to sample the cooking of every couple. We have some good cooks in our family! Saturday, we went to a dinner theater at Mac's Inn and enjoyed the Phantom of the Grand Ole Opre. It was pretty good, but I get uncomfortable and antsy easy these days so I might not be the best judge.
I do have to admit that I wondered again how my blood sugar would be on this trip. My family has a sweet tooth and I wondered if I could balance everything. However, my sugars were awesome and I even got to have the ice cream (no cone darn it) and cobbler. I got a hard time about being so careful and a little anal about certain things, but hey, when you know the consequences of not taking care of it, it makes you more likely to be a little ocd.
Now we are back and still in Utah. We finally got a new used car for a really cheep price. It's a little 2000 Toyota Corolla and after it passed the mechanic's approval we made an offer and got it for $500 less than we thought. So now we just have to get it all registered and insured.
Sorry this is a long blog with no pics, but we forgot to take our camera up to the cabin so we didn't get many pictures. I'll make sure to include pics of our new car and stuff in the next one. It will probably be when we get back to DC so not for a while.

Sniff, sniff. We LOVED our little, blue, lovely 2000 Toyota Corolla. Best car EVER. And we were so sad to have to sell it before we moved to NYC. Enjoy yours (enough for the both of us)!!!
We were so glad to see you guys! YOu look so cute!! Can't wait to see your new little car!
I'm so happy that Aaron got the offer he wanted and you won't be living across the country, now we just need to get Jared back closer to home. I don't blame you for being OCD, your just keeping yourself healthy! Love ya!
WE are going to be in DC this weekend...are you guys back? Would love to catch up.
That is so much fun! This last summer has been full of adventures and fun trips. I'm excited to see you guys if you stop by Kentucky. Don't feel you have to but if you want... we are here! And if you need a place to say or anything we are good with whatever. We even have an air mattress! :)
