Change

Change is good, right?  That's what I told myself when Aaron and I moved to DC, hundreds of miles from any family, and thousands from my parents.  It turned out to be good.  We didn't live in the safest area, but we made the dearest friends in the world!  I still get teary eyed wondering when we'll see them again.

I told myself change was good when we moved to Richmond, and it was.  Even though we knew we'd only be there a year, we assimilated more quickly than in any other ward (they REALLY know how to fellowship up there)!  I still drive up there every few months to see old friends.

Once again, "Change is good" was my mantra when moving from Richmond to Santa Clara.  It HAS been good, but it's also been different...

Remember graduating from high school and going to college?  That feeling of renewal where you knew that you could shed any labels or stereotypes you had and completely redefine yourself?

Picking up and moving does the same thing.  You can leave behind all the social blunders, the bad first impressions, and the outbursts of untactful opinions to people who unknowingly feel strongly in the opposing view.  I've had more than my usual share of that our current situation which causes some conflicting emotions about our upcoming move.

We have applied/ will be applying for, two apartments.  One in our current ward, one in the neighboring ward.  They both are about equal given their different perks, so it would really be a matter of WHERE do we want to live?  I've made some VERY good friends here.  I love them dearly and Eli loves their kids.  HOWEVER,  in some ways, I'm wanting to start afresh.  We'll see how it plays out.  Maybe Aaron will have a clear preference and that will have the final say.  Either way, we'll still be packing up boxes... UGH!

Oh Carrie I wish we lived closer so we could come and help out! You can do it and we love you.
