Baby Anna

I KNOW! You all want better pics. That will have to wait until I get home on Sunday and upload all the photos to our computer. Until then, you'll have to deal with my cell phone pics.

Here's a run down on Anna's birth. Due to Aaron's work, and me being miserable with a cold and overdue, I elected to have an induction on 9/30. They said they could call anywhere between midnight and midnight. So we were ready with sitters for Eli, our bags, everything.

At 5:41 am, we got the call. It's go time. Unfortunately it was so close to the time Eli normally gets up that he was awake when we left and VERY sad. It nearly broke my heart to leave him knowing I wouldn't be back for a few days.

We got to the hospital around 6:40, got situated, met everyone who'd be involved (the on call dr., nurse, anesthesiologist, etc.). Then they checked me... hah, far enough along that they decided just to break my water and see how things progressed. The longest part. The 2 hours before they broke my water! What are you waiting for?! Aaron and I had a bet about when she'd be born and the longer they took to break my water, the closer we were getting to Aaron winning!

FINALLY at 9-9:30 they broke my water and then it all went sprinting from there! By 11 I asked for my epidural and had to wait 20-30 minutes for him to get out of a c-section. Luckily I was a lot better at breathing this time EXCEPT for it made the anesthesiologist think I wasn't as far into active labor as I actually was. He gave me the epidural, but got a wet tap (spinal fluid) on the first puncture. NOT good. So he gave me another, but had to be super careful and slow with the medication dosage. Pain was relieved enough that I didn't feel any more back labor, and my legs were numb, but I could feel everything else. That didn't change by the time I had to push. Great for feeling when I needed to push, not great for everything else. Luckily I pushed only twice through the first contraction before the nurse said to stop so she could get the dr. Than twice again in the second contraction to get her out! Yeah for fast pushing!

So she was born at around 1:45 pm (I won the bet by the way)
7 lbs 9 oz
20 inches

The Dr. said that she's not a small baby in that she has heft. She's definitely built to be Eli's younger sister! She'll be able to keep up with him and to take all his "tough" love!

I loved that I got to see her come (the way the dr pulled her out gave me a great view). I love that I got to hold her right away and that all the measurement equipment was right in front of me instead of in a little annex room off to the side. I felt like it was a much more personable experience than when Eli was born.

So we are enjoying our little Anna Marie (Anna for Aaron's late mom and Marie for my paternal grandmother). She is a sweetie! Such a good sleeper... BUT it takes forever for her to eat!

Congratulations on your darling little Anna. I'm assuming you knew that Grandma Beth's mother's name was also Anna Marie. Pretty awesome.

So this baby is almost a week old, and I still haven't seen a good picture of her. I understand that it is busy with two kids now but please, I'm going crazy. I must see her cute face...I am assuming it is cute because the only picture I have seen was an inch by an inch so I could barely see anything.
