Pickles

Pickles have nothing to do with this post. I just thought it would be a fun title. Maybe I'm having subtle cravings... Nope, that's not it.

It's pretty cool in our California oasis. Eli was playing on the patio and left the door open so a cool breeze is wafting over me as I type. It's a nice, calming breeze! It gives me hope that maybe this summer wont be too hot for me and my growing belly!

We are in a "pickle" (yeah, I tied this to my title!) on names. I know it's crazy, but I've been feeling a little bit desperate. I'm all about family traditions so I'm perfectly happy with the fact that we used Aaron's Dad's name as Eli's middle name and our second son will have Aaron as a middle name (even though Aaron is not too fond of his name... don't try to understand). We've pretty much officially decided to name our little girl after Aaron's mom. BUT I am a little bit worried that I won't get to use any of the names on my side of the family that I want to use. Sadly, Aaron doesn't seem to like A LOT of the names (is this a conspiracy?) and the ones he does like, don't sound QUITE right to me. However, I'm fairly determined to get my side of the family in this girly's name, somehow. I will NOT give up nor give in! We'd found a couple of middle names that we liked, but now one of them is gone because when said with the first name it sounds like Anime (the Japanese animation cartoons). So that's been ruled out. We'll see how things go with the other one!

Other than that , things are good. I have not started shopping for a girl. As excited as I am, I am still bound by budget strings and our baby budget at this point is saving for needed things like a new car seat, a crib mattress, and I'm REALLY hoping to pull off the purchase of my DREAM stroller (a Phil and Teds). Once those are acquired (if that happens before the baby comes) then I can start going insane with the cute girly clothes. If it doesn't happen by the time she comes, then she'll just get to play tom boy until we do... Just kidding. Aaron's already been more the "mom" than me in saying he want's her to get all girly things just like Eli got all boy things. He was a little sad I was going to go get a neutral bumper for the crib. "Why not pink?" he said. Oh, he's already tied around her finger. What are we going to do?

Just start asking around for hand-me-downs... you would be AMAZED how much you can get once people hear you're interested. I have never bought Zoe even one article of clothing, and she owns more clothes than the rest of the family put together!

I'm not a big buyer for my kids -- good call on the neutral bumper. We're going on baby #3 in the green pack 'n play for a crib! Better to save the money for something important and more useful. We did splurge on a nice stroller (a MacLaren fold up for Jed, a double sit-and-stand when Zoe came) and it was so worth it. When our parents offered to get us something we needed, we asked them both for stroller money.

Excited for your baby - we're going to have a whole new Taylor Baby Clan this fall! Also, I think it is so neat you like family baby names too. We have the same issue with my family -- fortunately I made Zoe's name one of the conditions of our engagement so I got at least one name :) All the rest will be from M's side, most likely.

You could name her Ani Marie (after Grandma Armstrong's middle name) that would be cute. Or you could name her Ani Lorene that's cute too (at least I think so). I will start asking around for you girl clothes and see if I can get some for you. Hopefully I'll see you before you have the baby!!!!

Tim and I tried to get most everything neutral so that we can use it again if we have a boy...however, her room is totally girly! You should go girly as much as you can because there are so many cute girly things out there!

You'll find the most perfect name too...I'm sure of it! Ashley is always a good name...just throwing it out there :)
