Ode to Accutane

OH, sweet Accutane! I wish a dermatologist introduced me to you sooner.
My confidence was shot all through high school with goose egg sized zits.
One friend even ask if I had ran into something because of one on my forehead.
No tact... no tact at all... boys.
Then, in 2005, a new dermatologist said my case was on the verge of being severe enough to merit it's effects. It was my decision.
Informed of side effects, and results, I said, "Let's do it."
6 months later I was clear as a bell!
I NEVER returned to the sad acne I had before... until... pregnancy.
Sadly, Accutane, your effects are no match for raging hormones supporting baby growth.
I absolutely adore baby bellies, but don't you think I would be a much cuter preggo mommy if I didn't have these dots all over my face?
I'll be okay though. As soon as my sweet angel arrives, your magic will return and I'll be a gorgeous new mother.
In, the meantime, though, I miss the smooth skin, the absence of zit pressure, and the scarring that occurs when they pop.
I'm sad that you're off the market for people who would really benefit from your help. I'm sad that some doctors over prescribed you or didn't tell patients of your side effects. I'm sad that some patients weren't listening or didn't read the instructions when they got their prescription. I feel you've been wrongfully used and abused.

*I understand some of my readers may be very against the use of Accutane. I respect your opinion and I understand the side effects of Accutane can serious. However please respect MY opinion as someone who was INFORMED of ALL possible side effects by my doctor and decided for myself that it was something I was willing to do.
