My New Year's Resolution Break Through

After many, many resolution failures where I only get about two weeks in until I'm finished, I hope I've finally found MY method of completing my goals. I give complete thanks and credit to my sister-in-law, Megan (who is an inspiration). Thanks, Sis for the idea.

What is this spectacular idea?! Da da da dah. . . A chore list! Wait, a chore list? Didn't I have one of those before? Yes sirree BUT it didn't have a reward system attached and it was just a chore list of random things that needed to be done, NOT specifically of my day to day goals. I have 11 things to do everyday like: exercise for 30 minutes, read my scriptures, take a multivitamin, practic the piano for 1/2 hour, and clean a specific room in the house (thanks to Britt for that idea). Every chore is worth one point. I allow myself leway and count completing 90% of my goals for the week as passing. If I "pass" I get $5 for my own personal use. That's $20-25 per month!

This is perfect because Aaron and I wanted to put aside personal money for each of us. Now we have to earn that money. It also makes me think of my goals in weekly terms instead of yearly terms AND I don't give up if I messed up one day. Aaron added another stipulation to our chore list. We get $1 if we complete 1/2 of the chores. That way, if we have a really bad week, we can still get a little bit of a reward for purserverance.

Anyway, I'm really excited about this and I hope it lasts (this is our first week on it). Good luck to all of you in your New Year Goals.

Such a good idea! Then your chores won't seem so daunting. And you get a reward for it. Good luck!

That is a fantastic idea! Good luck to you! I didn't set any goals for me this year...other than passing all four of my boards and having a baby. :) I think my list is long enough! I'm sure you'll do awesome!
