Labor and Delivery

Okay, I'm just too excited to wait until we download good photos. So you'll just have to deal with the not so good photo from a cell phone.
Eli Nelson was born on Sunday, September 21 at around 3:10 am. 7 lbs 10 oz and 22 inches long. Ten fingers, ten toes, and oh so beautiful!

Here's my labor story. I woke up on Saturday having contractions. They occurred on and off until about 10 am when they became pretty consistent. So we started timing them. They were so sporatic and would be ten minutes apart once, then 5 min, then 8 min, then 4 min.... but they were growing in intensity and I have back labor (oh joy). So around 9:30 pm I was in so much pain that I called the doctor to see if I could come to get checked out. In we went and at 10:15 they checked us in and decided to keep us. Aaron was a champ at trying to get me to focus through the pain until I got the epidural. Oh, I'm so glad I got that medication. For those of you who had your baby all natural, props off to you, but man, I'd have passed out from the pain! After the epidural, Aaron and I finally got some shut eye. Two hours later the doctor came in and I was almost completely dialated at 2:30 am!! Wow, that was fast! We didn't start pushing until 3am so my contractions would do most the work. At 3:10 he was here after only 4 contractions of pushing. The nurse had to tell me to stop the last time so she could get the doctor to come catch. It was amazing how fast he came! He's our beautiful little man!

Carrie, I am SO glad you didn't go much over--I remember what it was like to be that pregnant. You just want to end the waiting and have your body back. And the baby, most of all, of course. I'm glad you had a safe delivery and you have a healthy, beautiful little boy.Congratulations!

Congrats Carrie and Aaron. He is quite cute, or at least he looks ready to eat- with his eyes shut and his mouth open- either he is hungry or he is a Japanese anime character. JK- he's great! Another niece/nephew to have fun with.
