Life's Ups and Downs

A picture of the ocean from Aaron and my excersion up the coast between home and San Francisco.

Lots has happened these past two weeks. Life sure does throw us for loops both good and bad and both kind were thrown.
I just got to visit my family! It was great. It's so hard to live so far away from everyone and it was good to see them all again and to build my relationships with them. My sisters, my mom, and my friend Rachel threw me a baby shower while I was there! It was so fun. It had been such a long time since I had seen some of my friends and that made the entire day! I also got some pretty neat stuff. Eli will be so well dressed, the diaper bag will be stocked, and my children's book collection tripled in size in two hours! Yeah!! If you notice at the bottom of the blog, our count down is at 60 days! It's getting closer and Aaron and I are getting more and more excited about our little man coming into our family. Anyway, thanks to all those who came. It was really a wonderful day and I love every one of you. For those of you who couldn't come, I love you too but I'm sorry I didn't get to see you. We are in Utah for Christmas so maybe then. Lynsie took pictures but she hasn't sent them, so I'll post them when I get them.

The Monday after the shower, I got to see my sweet sister in law who just had her baby which is the first niece to grace Aaron's family. Little Svea is adorable!

Me and Megan (I have the best sister-in-laws)

It was so fun to see her and her family. Her two little boys are such good big brothers. Ezra, Me and Levi

Of course Svea was adorable and so tiny. I hope Eli is tiny too. I have to say that my siblings (Josh and Amy) and Aaron's siblings (Megan and Seth) make cute kids. I'm so glad that both of them had babies this year because now they will have cousins their own age and even though Eli will be the only boy that age, those sweet girls will teach him to be a nice little gentlemen.

Tuesday, my sister-in-law Amy took me to lunch! It was so good to spend time with her. I really admire her as a person and as a mom. She always is so kind to her girls and even though they must keep her busy, she still finds things to help her feel like she's working on her goals as well. Thanks Amy and I love you.Amy (Another on of my amazing sister-in-laws), Baby Haylee, Me and Elise

My cousins from Kentucky also came to see us on Tuesday. They were visiting their daughter and decided to spend a day with us. It was so good to see them again! I love that family and I always have special memories of that uncle. He used to always call me Tinkerbelle.
I'm sure he's used that nick name on several other people, but I've always considered it my special nickname from him. Anyway, we went to the church history museum and I learned that there are several different Angel Moroni models used on temples. I didn't know that. I'll definitely look more closely now when I go. We also visited the Behive House where Brigham Young lived. They've opened a lot of that house up since the last time I went through. It's huge!

Wednesday I went to lunch with my old BYU Centenial II roommates! It was so much fun! They are all so wonderful and doing fantastic things with their lives. I love 'em to death. It makes me so happy for email and such because it makes it so much
easier to keep in contact with people so you can really hang on to old friends.

Thursday was my last day. I spent the day with my family and I went to my friend, Doug's, wedding reception in the evening.Top row: Kylie, Emily, Ryan, Me, Shelly, Will

Overall, my trip was fabulous. I feel bad though because a lot of the time, I was worried about having gestational diabetes because the day I flew out I had a prenatal appointment and my screen came back high. Diabetes runs in my family and I have a couple other risk factors including polycystic ovary syndrome. So I was worried about my future health and I was very self pitious because I love my sweets and the thought of having to carefully watch my carbs was not very appealing. So I'm sorry Mom for my worrying. However, it wasn't unfounded because it has been diagnosed that I do have gestational diabetes. It's a good thing I feel pretty comfortable knowing what to eat. Like Aaron told me; graduating in dietetics makes me that much more able to deal with this problem. My blood glucose levels are borderline so I probably won't need insulin (thank goodness). I'm just sad I can't eat a brownie whenever I want and that I have to plan every meal and snack. I'm also worried about what the future will bring especially since I've done pretty well in not being overweight and I try to eat right most of the time so what risk factors can I change to prevent diabetes in the future? It makes me wonder if I'm one of those people who will get type II diabetes no matter what I try to do. However, Aaron says that by the time I get to that point they'll probably have a cure for it. That would be AWESOME!! Anyway, I'll just have to remember that my grandpa had diabetes and he lived to a good old age. For now I'll just have to take as good of care of myself and Eli so that he will get here safely and healthily.

Aaron's parents spent the weekend with us last week. We went to San Francisco and did all that fun stuff. It was good to see them again. I feel so lucky with my in-laws. I couldn't have asked for any better.

Well that's been my week, the good and bad.

Make sure you have Aaron bring you a huge chocolate Brownie after you have Eli . . . I am so sorry to hear that the test came back high. I don't know if I could handle staying on a strict diet the last few months with Haylee . . .I am a pig. So you are the BOMB. Good luck, I know you can do it.

It was good to see you and take you to lunch . . . sure wish you were living closer. But we will see you nice and pregnant in a few weeks. love ya
