Baby Stonehocker

I'm sorry for all of you who are getting sick of hearing about baby's and pregnancy BUT I'm sure that all of you who are or have ever been pregnant know, it's really the MOST exciting thing happening in life and you want to tell everyone everything. This all too excited part of me really made it hard to keep it a secret that we were pregnant for longer than two to three weeks( Amy, Josh and I are alike in that way I guess. It's just I'm the mom so I can tell whenever, right?). Of course my eyes looking like blood baths didn't help the situation.

Well, yesterday we went for the Nuchal test (it tests for down syndrome, neural tube defects, and trisomy 13 & 18). Not that I was really worried about the chromosome defects BUT I'm always going to be worried that I didn't start prenatal vitamins soon enough and that my diet wasn't sufficient for healthy neural growth. Anyway, Aaron couldn't come to this one and I was so sad afterwards that he couldn't. That's where I heard the heartbeat for the first time and got to see baby's long spindly legs and arms! I also got to see where the little bones are turning from spongy stuff to actual bone, and I got to see the little brain and of course the heart is still visible through the baby's transparent skin. Every time I see this little person it's amazing! To see it grow
and develop (in two weeks baby has nearly tripled in size from 3.5 cm to 11.1 cm). I feel really blessed that we live in this time when we can be so much more witness to the baby's growth. It's too early to tell for sure the gender so we'll have to wait another 4 to 8 weeks for that. Luckily when we went to our prenatal visit, Aaron was also able to hear the heart beat.

This pregnancy also has it's little comedy. Due to my very odd body, our due date has been an object of discussion at several of our appointments. At your first prenatal appointment they ask one question to determine the baby's due date. Well, we knew my answer to that question would give an erroneous date. Being honest, we told them that date BUT informed them that this isn't an accurate measure for my due date. We followed with information for when we got a negative test and the following positive test. Well, for some reason, the nurses assistant either thought we were incompetent or ignored us completely (don't get me wrong, the doctors there are great. I'm just frustrated that this girl not listening had made our due date jump back and forth from August to September). Anyway, we were sent for a sonogram to determine the true due date, but that doctor never faxed the results to our doctor. So yesterday we had to go through the whole explanation again to the doctor we were seeing. Hopefully this will all get cleared up soon.

Also, as much as I hoped and prayed, I've only felt a slight improvement with my nausea and vomiting and today's been especially bad. If I hadn't kept down lunch, I might seriously think I'm getting hyperemesis gravidarum! I do feel like I have more energy so maybe it's just being a little stubborn in leaving but will give in eventually.

Watch out for those nurses or lab assistants or whatever they are-they can make you cry, especially with all those hormones raging in your body. Hope you find the due date soon, from that sonogram your baby looks bigger than a little bean, so you shouldn't have too long.

I still can't believe we only have two more months!!

I don't know if the picture is just closer up but the baby does seem much bigger than the other photo you sent a few weeks ago. So are they thinking your farther along then you thought?
