My sweetheart turned 30 recently and now I can tease him for a whole year and a half that we are in different generations! :)
Aaron's never been one for birthdays. I even asked him once what they did for b-day's growing up. They did nearly the exact same thing my family did. So WHY is it that he, and maybe his whole family (I'm only sure about his dad), don't make a big deal out of it while mine does? I don't understand...
Anyway, I was NOT going to let my man get away with some po-dunk birthday. I made little signs with numbers from 0-30. On each number I put a reason why we LOVE him and enjoy having him in our family. It's amazing how much you grow to love someone! I remember trying to do something sort of the same when we first started dating. I don't remember what number I got to, but I was feeling a little bit sheepish that it was ONLY that many! Hah, now I was having to limit myself to 31 (including the 0). I was debating putting fun little facts about specific years (with is why I needed the 0) but with Eli and my own procrastination I had to settle for just the "love" notes.
Since I usually go to bed before Aaron, and on some Saturdays he wakes up before me in order to skype his brother, I was a little dismayed at WHEN I was going to decorate. Fate was with me, in a way, and I woke up at 3 am unable to sleep anymore. So I decorated then.
For gifts I got Aaron an AWESOMELY nice krokinole board (thanks to my bro-in-law for setting us up), and some reese's PB cups. He is getting cufflinks, but I hadn't bought those yet.
For dinner we had his mom's home made tacos, which Aaron made because I'm not strong enough to roll the tortillas thin enough. We LOVE these tacos so thanks, Aaron!
For his cake he had a Jello cake. So moist and yummy! I'd never made one so Aaron had to help me a little.
Happy Birthday sweetie. You are older and wiser. Even though you keep saying that it was a day of mourning, I still think of you as young as you were when we met... Sometimes even younger ;) (just kidding... I couln't resist that last part though).
...and We're Back!
