Ah, the flight home was pretty much the same as the flight out. Okay with several melt downs. What can you expect, it's pretty much the normal day for a terrible two year old. It being Eli's b-day on the way home, I did have a few small gifts wrapped up to open on the plane. He enjoyed his cars and dinosaur.
Okay, Survival tips from a pro. That's NOT me. I have a friend who travels pretty often with her family which includes a two year old. I got the first tip from her.
Dum dums. In a word, that is what kept us sane. Eli always wanted one and it kept him quiet for at least a few precious minutes if not longer. Too bad Eli is a cruncher or they'd have worked a lot longer. BEWARE, though, they cause stickiness everywhere. Eli had a constant sticky lint beard from his sucker and cuddling with his blanket.
My tips: If your child has more than one loved toy, take them both and switch off. Eli had to have his blanket and puppy with him ALL THE TIME. He only has one beloved blanket and it was so gross by the end of the trip that I wanted to quarantine it. If it wasn't his favorite I'd probably have just thrown it away! Ugh, I get grossed out just remembering the smell.
Anyway, other survival tips. Pray for patience in yourself and everyone else around you. Don't worry too much about getting them on the time zone. The more they sleep during the day, the better for you ;) They may get up super early everyday, but at least you know you won't be waisting any moment of any day by sleeping it away.

I'm with you on the dum-dums. Bless the bank teller for handing those suckers (literally) out.
It sounds like you had such a fun time! Someday, if we ever make it across the pond to see England, you'll have to give us some pointers.
Oh, and yes. Dum dums are awesome. I keep a bag of those and a bag of Smarties on hand and keep a few stashed in my purse or the diaper bag or whatever to pull out in emergencies. They've been lifesavers.
We discovered the magic of Dum Dums this year wtih Haylee and church and shopping and traveling in the car . . .
I would have never thought to take them on a plane-that is some good advice.
Glad you survived it. You are braver then I am.
