Good News/ Bad News

Which do you want to hear first? That is the age old question. My preference is to hear the good news first. I feel a bit of reassurance can help soften the blow of anything. This week was one of those weeks.

Last Friday night, we started noticing that our car would slip out of gear. By Saturday Morning, it wouldn't even go into gear. Aaron checked the transmission fluid and it was bone dry and there was a HUGE puddle under our car. GREAT! If any of you know our history with cars, you know that this is right in line with our luck. Well, the car dealer near our house is closed Saturdays for services (weird, I know). So we had to do our best with topping off the car with transmission fluid in order to get to church on Sunday.

I finally took it in today to have it looked at. This is where the bad news/good news comes in.

Good News: Your car is still pretty new and is covered by warranty.

Bad News: Your whole transmission needs to be replaced and you will be out of a car for about a week.

Now doesn't knowing that the cost is going to be covered by warranty make the fact that the entire transmission needs to be replaced just a grain of salt? I feel that way. So we will still have to pay for a rental, but that's nothing to a new transmission.

I think this deserves a celebration. Lunch at In-N-Out anyone?

Oh my goodness! That stinks! But you're totally right, I would so much rather be out of a car for a week than pay for a new transmission! That would be a hefty bill to pay that is for sure! Tim's family has a curse when it comes to cars...luckily for us, so far it hasn't showed it's ugly head yet...but in Brig's (Tim's little brother) three years of marriage, he and his wife have gone through five cars! That's right...five!

TOTALLY SUCKS! I agree that paying for a rental is nothing compared to having to replace a transmission, but I think Hyundai should pay for your rental since they are the ones that built the car. In-N-Out sounds good!!! You should try their Neopolitan shakes, they are DELICIOUS!!!!! Have one for me!!!

wow! At least lucky that the warranty still covered it! Nothing could be worse than that happening just after it expired. But it still sucks and makes your week hectic dealing with getting the rental car and everything. I hope it all worked out and the transmission replacement went smoothly!
