Happy Independence Day!

First off, Happy Canada Day on July 1st. If I wasn't all wrapped up on studying for tests and taking care of a teething baby I would have made nanaimo (spelling?) bars. It's fun to have a "foreigner" in the family. We get to celebrate two Independence Days and two Thanks Givings if we so choose.

Now for our 4th of July celebrations. I was all psyched for this to be Eli's first 4th so I took my $10 coupon and went to Old Navy for their famous flag t-shirts. Luckily I found one Eli's size. It was the last one.

For breakfast I wanted to start out the day right with a red, white and blue breakfast. Yummy. You can't go wrong with blueberries and for the amazing price of $.99 a pint, I splurged.

We then went to a BBQ at a friend's house and Eli got to swim for his first time! He loved it when we were holding him pretty tight. He loves to splash but being that submerged and not feeling anything to support himself but Aaron and me made him pretty clingy.

I wanted to see fireworks, but the place near our house that was putting them on did them on the 3rd and they charged for admission. We could have seen them without paying but it was after Eli's bed time and with a teething child, I'm often counting the minutes until bedtime. As for the capital fireworks, it is ALWAYS crowded. I wanted to watch them on TV but they didn't start until late late and I was exhausted! We had a great day though. Maybe fireworks next year.
