We Need a Dog!

So I don't think that having a pet has ever been on my priority list. I like them, but we've always rented and haven't been able to even think about it. Then I always cringe at the thought of having to clean up after another living thing (it's hard enough with three). However, Eli has gotten me to thinking about the possibility of a pet (a dog).

His squeals of joy whenever he sees a dog and the endless entertainment he gets from crawling after them is a priceless thing to watch. Of course I fear more for the dog than Eli since he doesn't understand "soft" petting. He pulls hair and tries to eat every textured thing he can get his hands on. Sorry to Nubbins and Bella (the sweet dogs who've shared in Eli's abusive explorations).

Well, until we feel like it's the right time to get a pet, I will have to be the replacement as I crawl around the floor screaming with Eli chasing after me squealing with the joy of the hunt. The things we do to make our babies laugh!

Feel free to borrow our dog but he is afraid of most kiddos so it might not be very fun as he will try to run and hide.

You should totally get a dog! But of coarse, this is coming from a dog lover...but dogs are the best family pets ever! If you get one young enough, it won't have a hard time with Eli being slightly rougher than normal with it. My mom and dad got my brother a dog when he was just a baby, and they grew up together. My brother loved that dog! We've always had a dog ever since I was little, so I'm completely prejudiced on the whole family pet thing...but its a fantastic idea!

I think you should get a dog too. They are fun. Just be sure to get a bigger dog, since they tend to be more patient with kids then small dogs are. Labs are always a good breed with kids, but then again you already know that.

I never thought I'd want a dog either, but watching Garrett go crazy happy whenever he sees one makes me wish we had one ourselves. Maybe someday...when we have a yard.
