Little Noses, Big Flus, and a game of tag.

Ah, I should have known that being in the same room with sick kids would mean trouble for my little man. Yes, Eli is sick. The poor little guy has a cold and his nose is all stuffed up. So I use the Little Noses saline to get it all loosened up and he accidentally breaths in the loosened up snot. Then he coughs and coughs. He cries and cries when mommy uses the nose sucker... sorry little bubs but it has to be done! All the above makes it so he wakes himself up at night so those precious times when he'd go five to six hours between feedings are on hold.
It's bad enough having a sick baby but Aaron is sick as well. Hah, anyone who says getting the flu shot is a full proof way to help keep you and your baby healthy is silly. Aaron got the flu shot and now he's all achy with fever and chills and a sore throat. It's not in the time range of when he got the shot so either he is having a very delayed reaction to the shot or he got the strain that wasn't expected to be a big hitter this year. It also didn't help that it came on strong the day before Aaron had a 30 page paper due. So he didn't rest as well as he should have and made both of us more irritable.
Anyway, since Aaron's illness is much worse than Eli's we're keeping them in as little contact as possible making it difficult on me because I don't get a break from a sad, crying baby. This in turn makes me tired and cranky and then I'm not as simpathetic to Aaron's health needs as I should be. However, we are grateful that I'm not sick as well (knock on wood). Things would really be horrible if all three of us were sick. So how am I keeping from getting sick? Well, I hate to say it, but last night was the first night that Aaron and I didn't sleep in the same bed (except for when one of us is out of town). Sad I know, but I figured, I would be getting up often with Eli anyway, Aaron needed some much needed rest, and so I pulled the bassinet out to the living room and I slept in my recliner. It was actually rather comfortable except that Eli's snorted breathing is quite noisy.
Another bright spot is that although Eli is so miserable, he still manages to give me huge grins from time to time and when I'm changing his diaper. It makes that little bit go so much better.
Well, lets hope these two guys get better soon. Life's so much better when everyone's healthy :)

Okay, this is an add on. Thanks Alyssa for tagging me. Of course I haven't given up on your blog! So here's the tag.
If I tag you, go into your photo files, pick the 4th file, and the 4th picture in that file. This is a giant redwood from the Big Basin trip Aaron and I did this summer. It really was so much fun! The trees were absolutely gorgeous. The drive was spectacular (despite the many many twists and turns that were treacherous and somewhat nausiating). The only downer was when I got my first case of pregnancy heartburn that forced us to leave a bit earlier than we might have.
I tag Brittany, Lynsie, Amy and Jen

Being next to redwoods has been one of the most spiritual experiences for me. I am in awe of Gods creations!
