The Death of Petey

Earlier this year (August) we bought a new used car which we named Petey. Why Petey? It was part of the license plate. Well, Petey was not part of our family long. Sadly, this last Tuesday, September 30th, 2008 Petey committed suicide on the side of the road outside Georgetown University. Unfortunately all the fire trucks could not save him from his own distructive mission. Now, Petey is destined for the junk yard because even if all the king's horses and all the king's men could put Petey together again. Carrie and Aaron are NOT willing to pay for it.

The Story
Petey joined our family in August. After having him checked out by a mechanic and getting the all clear we bought Petey with the understanding that there was a power stearing fluid leak. We had told the mechanic to fix this problem, but they didn't. No prob since they didn't charge us for it. However, we had to leave and so we just kept refilling the fluid as needed along our cross country trip.

Upon arriving in DC we were so busy moving in and then it was so close to Eli's due date that we postponed the fix until after his birth so we would not find ourselves stranded when I went into labor.

Eli arrived and we were going to go get it fixed but one
thing or another lead us to postpone that. All in all the date for the fix was going to be this Friday after we took my mom to the airport to fly home. Petey didn't want to live that long and when Aaron had to parralel park at school, the power stearing fluid spirted onto the hot engine. Because Aaron was late, he rushed into class and Petey took over. The burning fluid turned into flame and Petey was soon the cause of a blocked off road. I still don't know how they found out who's car it was but somehow Aaron found out during his class and called me to tell me Petey was no more. Luckily no one was inside! We are so grateful for that. WE were able to save the car seat base and our cell phone car adapters too, but Petey did a pretty good job of self distructing. So we start again deciding what we want to do for a vehicle this year. Buy or lease????

Here's pics of Petey. Farewell. You'd probably end up being a lemon anyway so we'll hope this was for the best. What a financial hiccup though.

Well, to brighten up that mood, we still have a beautiful baby. Since it is officially October and who knows if he'll fit into this at Halloween. So here's Eli in his first Halloween costume! Boo!!!

He's just too cute! The joy of my life along with Aaron. Thanks for making this whole situation a little more bearable little guy and thanks Mom for all your support. I think I'd be an emotional wreck if you weren't here.

Ouch. Sorry about Petey. But, on the bright side, Eli makes a terrific little Halloween ghost!

Eli is so cute and I get to see him 13 days! YAY!
