Interesting Stuff

Have you ever wondered how big vehicles like trains get clean? Well yesterday, during my metro trips I found out. They get cleaned the same way cars do it a car wash. Seriously! The Amtrak train was going along a track and through two huge brushes! I had never thought about how they cleaned them before, but there you go. They must spray them down afterwards though, because it didn't look any cleaner after the brushes than before. It must have been the suds before the rinse.

Other things I wonder about are:
1- Every once in a while, a soap sud like foam that comes up through our kitchen drain. It has a weird cleaner smell to it. What is it? I was wondering the other day whether it might be some kind of bug poison because we've had a couple bugs come out of our kitchen drain. Who knows?

2- On the entrance to the freeway 495, by our apartment, there is a hole in the big brick wall that separates the freeway from the surrounding neighborhoods. I saw this hole when the car that made it was still there. I'm wondering how the car got to the point it did. I'm including a diagrammed picture so you can see why this is in question. Mostly because the metal barriers were never damaged in any way.

3- You know those really dangerous hiker paths where you are on precarious paths over 75% of the the time with death staring up at you? Who decided to make those paths in the first place and how did they live through it while they were building the path?

4- In what alternate dimension would people decide to kidnap and kill survivors of a plane that crashed on their island? I mean REALLY!! While the show is intriguing, I don't understand the premises of it.

Sometimes the water from your dishwasher runs through the same drain as your sink and the water comes up. Do the suds smell like your dishwasher detergent? Just trying to help you our with your mysteries of life =). Congrats on the internship.
