It will never cease to amaze me, the weather here. While I still miss the smells of the seasons, I can't deny that days like today are nice.
The morning started off busy. We missed Aaron's train... twice. So that meant he had to drop me off at my visiting teaching appointment (luckily only about a mile from home) and drive himself to work. After visiting teaching, we meandered on over to the nearby park and Eli got his fill of slides, swings, sand, and climbing.
After an hour of play, it was time to start the walk home. Luckily he came without much fuss and our walk home, hand-in-hand, in the sun reminded me of those lazy summer days as a youth. Where the world seems quiet except for the birds and a few cars passing by. Those days you really take stock of how beautiful the world is, even if it's only the beauty in your own neighborhood. When you soak up the sunshine like a sponge and savor the tingling warmth on your skin.
We looked at and touched the different kinds of bushes people had around their yards. Except for the giant cactus... OUCH!
We looked longingly at an orange tree laden with that delicious fruit. Seemingly begging to be picked.
"Eli, do you want an orange tree in our yard someday (yeah, if we can get a house... ever)?"
Eli... "Yeah. Orange tree da a big tree" (interpretted by me as "yeah, an orange tree and a big tree.")
We LOVE oranges at our house!
It was a special walk for me and my Eli and so I will forever love these summer January days.

I'm envying your January summer. It is so nice one day in Utah making me so so so excited for spring, and then the next day it snows. What fun memories you're making! I loved this post :). It was beautiful.
What a cute little boy!!! We've actually had good weather here this past week and Grant and I have been able to go outside and play quite a bit and he has LOVED it! I can't wait for Spring to come and play outside more.
I am longing for those summer days again. Sound like a nice moment for you and Eli in the sun.
Maybe I'll try to do a visiting teaching appointment at the park when it gets warmer:)
Ahhh, this is a sweet post! :-) What a wonderful moment with your sun. I love being able to enjoy days like that. :-)
