Since I took the class, I have had only one reason to indulge in this hobby. I was commissioned to make a sketch book for a young women in Maryland as a Christmas present from her mother.
Now, I get to start a new project and I thought it would be neat to document my progress with the book! This project is a scrap book and book box for the wedding of a friend's daughter. Since I have never made a scrap book before, this will be a new and exciting challenge.
Well, here we go with the first part...
These are the basic supplies that will make up the book. The scrap book is just an example of the size the book is going to be. The boards are Davy board and the basic board used for books. The daughter is marrying a man from Tonga so she chose more traditional fabric for that culture.
This is the board with all the measurements before I cut it (just with a simple heavy duty box cutter/x-acto knife).
Here is the basic lay out of the book.
They want a picture in the cover so here is the front cover with the picture spot in it.
Here is the layout of the book with the picture spot and the holes in the spine for the posts. I punched these holes with an awl, however, I wonder if a leather hole punch would have worked better. Oh well, you use what equipment you have.

Awesome! I can't wait to see the progress. You are going to publish the progress, yes?
Yes, I am definitely going to publish the progress. I'm excited too. It's always fun to see something progress from raw materials to something finished and amazing... even if it's a little different from what you planned.
Carrie, the book looks AMAZING so far, really it does. You are very talented. I love the fabric that the bride chose, it's gorgeous! I can't wait to see the finished product.
