We all have our preconceptions about how things are supposed to be. In most situations anyway. It's extremely disconcerting when things step out of those preconceptions and force you to accept something different. Of few of these things are occurring this year.
The first one, the lack of seasons in this area, I was prepared for, in a way. WHERE is fall and winter? It's a little sad not to breath in the crisp December air that brings with it A LOT of my Christmas memories. I guess I'll just have to make new Christmas associations with this smell.
The next preconception... Doesn't autumn start in September? I knew that there wouldn't be many seasonal changes, but having these "fall" leaves in December has got me really off track. We came back from Thanksgiving break and our city is arrayed in the colors that should have been long gone by now. Better late than never, but GEESE I'm trying to get into the Christmas Spirit. Bring on the stark crisp air of barren trees. Be careful folks, I might end up sending Christmas gifts and cards late because my internal time line is off.
Finally... I thought Eli liked apples. He still reaches for them and wants to share them with me, if not commandeer mine all together. What's the problem then, you might ask? After he bites the apple, he chews it up and then spits it out! After an apple fest, I'm spending the next 10 minutes scanning the apartment and cleaning up little apple bits that were joyously chewed, but apparently weren't good enough to make it past the back of the tongue. This child is such an enigma to me sometimes. :)

Welcome to the barren land :) It is funny because I have never experienced seasons until I was at Provo. I thought it was so cool, but so weird at the same time. You are just lucky it is cold enough to have the leaves turn. Christmas isn't Christmas for me if you can throw on a sweater and play with all your cool new toys outside in the sun. :) I really didn't know I didn't have a winter til I got to Utah...my mom made us wear long pants when it was under 79!!!! LOL
You will figure it out. Christmas will be Christmas still, but just not cold.
Right now I'm wishing I was in California! It was about 15 degrees outside this morning, and I don't think its gotten over 18 degrees all day! The worst part...THERE'S NO SNOW! I can handle to cold when I at least have snow! So...be glad you aren't suffering in the inversion and freezing weather! :) Although...I would miss the seasons too...but just think...you're closer to Disneyland than me!
That is too funny about Eli and the apples. And I will trade your weather for ours any day. Love you guys!
Haylee spits out food all the time too. I still don't get it:) Crazy kids.
