Wedding and All That Followed Afterward

Continued from DC to Utah in Five Days...

We got to Salt Lake Friday May 23. While our driving wasn't as leisurely as we thought it would be, at least Aaron got a couple days of rest before making the final trip to California and our home for the summer. We had a wonderful weekend with my family and getting work clothes for Aaron. Monday, after our oh so scrumptious Memorial Day dinner, Aaron left. Later that night I went with my sister, Lyns, to see my grandparents' graves. I've always found cemeteries fascinating especially old ones. It gives me a feeling of nostalgia and I wonder if in 100-150 years anyone will ever visit my grave or that of my grandparents. It's sad to think that people can be forgotten so soon. I'm just glad that verbal memories can be provided. I know my great grandparents through my parents' stories. Hopefully I make a lasting impression on my posterity so that they will want to remember me and what I tried to teach.
I also did what I could to help with my brother's wedding which really wasn't much. My mom got spoiled this wedding with having the reception at a reception center instead of the church where we'd have to set up. I wouldn't be surprised if Lynsie gets a larger wedding budget so she can spoil my mom the same way. Anyway, we had fun with our little family shower for Jen and didn't embarrass her too much I hope with our little novelties!
The wedding was beautiful and the sealing was amazing! It's so sad that we don't often remember what is said at our own wedding, but it's nice to go back and get counsel from someone else's wedding! The pics afterward were fun except Aaron wasn't there! He was stuck in airports all day. Flights were delayed, connections missed, flights cancelled and luggage lost! I felt so bad that Aaron had to go through so much hassell. I also don't have many pictures from the wedding since Aaron happened to have our camera with him! So to see wedding photos you'll have to go to my other siblings pages (lets see if you can guess who they are!).
Saturday May 31st, Aaron and I flew to California and started our summer in the sun. What I already love about California:
- It cools off in the evening so even if our apartment gets unbearable during the day, we know there will be some relief.
- It's dryer. It's hot, but I don't feel all gooey from the humidity too.
- The weather is consistent. It's nice to basically know how to dress for the next day.

Things I miss about DC:
- Above and beyond everything else are our friends.
- Cheaper housing which I used to think really expensive compared to Utah's rates.
- Did I mention friends?

Well, I don't want this to be too long, so I'll make this a short post and then tomorrow or Saturday I'll post on the long overdue tale of San Francisco!

I wish I had known you & Lynsie were going to go visit Grandma & Grandpa's grave, I would've stayed longer so that I could come with you. I hope the California heat hasn't been too unbearable with your pregnancy, love you!!

I still need to send you those wedding pictures I "promised" to send . . . things are just crazy, but I haven't forgotten you.

I am on my way to Cali to see you and we can go to the beach to show off your belly!!!

You'll be back in DC before you know it and you'll have a little baby to keep you extra busy. love you guys.

Amy, don't tease me with the prospect of a visit. I'll get my hopes up. BUT I'd love to go to the beach with you!
